The Network of Excellence on Nanostructured Materials is a joint venture of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, and Fraunhofer Institute of Mechanics of Materials. It is devoted to the design and the fabrication of novel nanostructured materials which offer superior combinations of desired properties. Using both bottom-up and top-down methods, well defined nano-ensembles, which can be functionalized and connected to each other, are intended to form components and devices with tunable parameters for applications in the fields of information technology, sensors and actuators, nanocomposites for different functions, and drug delivery systems.
